The Chopeks, as well as Network founder, president and CEO Michael W. Ross, will continue to work for the new venture.
“There are some obvious and beneficial synergies between the two i companies, as Blue Ridge, like Network, is peopled by a quality staff of technical and traffic engineeringoriented professionals, and the company has been operated, like Network^ as a switch-based interexchange carrier, rather than as simply a marketing and resale organization, which is the case with so many of the other smaller firms in this business,” said Mr. Ross.
The shareholders of Blue Ridge have exchanged their stake in the company for shares of Network’s publicly traded common stock.
Locally owned and operated, Blue „ Ridge Telephone provides service to Rappahannock, Warrenton, Leesburg, Middleburg, Culpeper, Front Royal, Winchester, Luray and Fredericksburg and has been in business for more than 10 years.
Network is one of the oldest active participants in the alternative long distance business.
The Baton Rouge, La. firm was * founded in 1979 and was one of the first carriers to bypass original city. 1 to-city restrictions and offer its customers direct long distance access to any destination in the U.S. — prior to both MCI and Sprint, according to a
