He served as a Captain in the French and Indian War, as one of the Culpeper justices who signed the 1765 Stamp Act Protest and as a member of the Committee of Safety for Culpeper County in 1775. Since Captain Strother was an elderly man during the American Revolution, he made his contribution of guns, wagons, beef, com, grain, brandy and other rations. Furthermore, two of his sons and several of his son-in-laws were soldiers. The above information is documented with The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
