Harold Estes, Sr.

Harold Brown Estes, Sr., 70, of Culpeper, died on Sunday, July 21 at his residence.

He was born April 3, 1926, in Rappahannock County, to the late William Lee Estes and Bertha Mae Corder Estes.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Mr. Estes was a member of the Washington Baptist Church, was a member of the Washington Fire and Rescue for 30 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 330.

He was a mechanic for Merrill Motor Company in Washington for 30 years and was retired from Old Dominion Manufacturing of Culpeper after nine years.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Mary Lee Estes and one son, Harold Brown Estes, Jr. of Culpeper. "

He is also survived by one sister, Eloise Estes Terry of Hampton; two brothers, William Lee Estes of Culpeper and Everett Jackson Estes of Washington.

Additional survivors include two grandsons, Matthew Brown Estes and Christopher Lloyd Estes, both of Culpeper and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will received friends from 7:8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 at Found and Sons Funeral Home, in Culpeper.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Found and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Gordon George, Jr., officiating.

Interment will follow in the Culpeper National Cemetery.

Pallbearers named, are Thomas Smoot, Jr., Reubin Smoot, Peter J. Routten, William C. Terry, Jackie Estes, Clabert Smoot and Medley Riley.

Found and Sons Funeral Home in Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.
