It has been said that California is 25 years ahead of Virginia in everything involved with highways and traffic: road signs and markers; con-, struction of overpasses and underpasses and all that goes with the movement of vehicles.
Can it be that some country bumpkins back in the 30’s in Illinois had stumbled upon an answer to speed control? Nah, speed bumps are a dumb idea, suitable for horses and buggies, and not for modern times.

Judge Snead’s article entitled "Persecution Led to Religious Freedom" was most enlightening and enjoyable. 1 would like to see more articles in the Rappahannock News regarding historical events, especially since this is the 200th. birthday of the tow n of Washington.
However in defense of my great, gr.. gr., gr„ gr., gr. grandfather, John Dabney Strother (1721 -17l>5), he simply fulfilled his duties as magistrate of the Crow n in I 768 when he had Jamie Ireland arrested for preaching.
