competed in tne city-state ot Thebes. Daniel Slack in the Spartan group was the only 4th grader amoung the 60 competitors and did an outstanding performance in the long run and the discus. Aron Weisgerber of Thebes ran in the hot sun despite his asthma and Demian Hallett (Athens) also completed the test of endurance with asthma.
The class teacher, Mike Dunnigan, had been working for several months training the students in the games and their historical context. One-year old Miguel Lorenzo-Day was the school’s mascot.
Children came from the Washington Waldorf School in Bethesda, Md. the Baltimore Waldorf School, Crossroads Waldorf School in Charlottesville and the Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill. Waldorf Schools are part of an international system of education that focuses on integrating the arts, sciences, math, history and ethics.
