He noted that people are moving into Rappahannock County to get away from the “Northern Virginias of the world. The tools of technology allow them to telecommute. There are advantages and disadvantages to that, but speaking of family values, what could be more pro-family than letting working parents work at home.” He noted that is also good for the environment because it is “keeping the cars off the road.”
He said the businesses that have done well are those which give decision-making power to those closest to the work. “Government is the last topdown organization around. We have to give local communities more authority and flexibility. After all now you can have as much information in Washington, Virginia, as in Washington, D.C.”
He said a number of Republicans are supporting his campaign and many of the issues that concern him are neither Republican nor Democratic, liberal nor conservative. “If the voters go into the polls asking who is the best person to take me, my family and Virginia into the 21st century, I’m going to win.”
