Slate Mills artist Ned Bittinger will present a program on “Painting the Figure in Pastel” to the Fauquier Artists Alliance, an arts organization with its home base in Warrenton, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9.

Mr. Bittinger, a nationally acclaimed artist and illustrator, will compose and execute a painting from the model demonstrating his painting technique using the pastel medium. He will explain the steps to his approach as he proceeds through the demonstration. The audience is encouraged to ask questions during the painting process.

He studied portraiture with Daniel Green and John Howard Sanden and. has been a professional artist for over 22 years. In addition, he has illustrated tw children’s books: The Matzah That Papa Broguth Home and The Blue and The Gray (to be published this November).
