Mr. Fannon’s field has held up well. It was spared the flash floods of Friday, Aug. 23, that washed out games at Great Meadow. The rain did not fall as heavily along the Thornton River which runs alongside the polo field. In fact, Mr. Fannon explained he will be needing to water it soon. His irrigation system uses water pumped onto the field from the river.

Mr. Fannon noted that players practice and wait all week long for a Sunday game, so when none of the other area fields were able to host those games, Mr. Fannon invited the players to come and play them all on his field.

“It was a fun day,” he added.
