Another sewer rate increase for Sperryville? Outrageous!
Already we are paying higher rates than any surrounding area. Also, homeowners must pay for the electricity that runs the pump that pumps the liquid to the treatment plant. Now WSA wants a 46.5 percent increase on a bill that is already far too high.
The WSA says it needs this increase to install a surge basin. Then they state they intend to apply for state bond money for the tank. The tank can be installed and then the WSA can begin repaying the bond. I assume the state will not require repayment in a lump sum, thereby allowing time payr ments. As the surge basin seems to be the largest expenditure facing the authority, why not wait to review repayment terms before announcing a rate increase? I fail to understand how they ever arrived at any proposed rate without this basic information.
