The trail represents over four years of planning and hard work by park staff and scores of volunteers, primarily from Bell Atlantic Pioneers and youth groups working in the summer employment program. Bell Atlantic Pioneers and. local lumber companies, including Culpeper Wood Preservers, donated much of the lumber, hardware, telephone poles and other supplies needed in the construction of a boardwalk and wooden footbridge and benches where visitors can rest. The Shenandoah Natural History Association, Bell Atlantic Pioneers and 32 individuals contributed over $7,000 to assist the park in covering
