From Aug. 4-8, Zack and Nathan Corbin and I, all members of the Rappahannock County 4-H Livestock Club, spent the week at 4-H Stockman’s Camp in Albemarle County, outside of Charlottesville.

Mary Beth Williams of Flint Hill, a member of the Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club, received the Reserve Champion placing on her beef carcass from the beef steer she showed at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show in July.
The Carcass Show awards program and picnic was held on Aug. 22 at Graves Mountain Lodge for 4-H’ers and their families in the three counties.
The Carcass Contest is the last event of the Farm Show. After the sale at the Farm Show, the animals are taken to the slaughter house where the carcasses are graded. Awards are presented to 4-H’ers on beef, swine, sheep and dairy beef carcasses.
Also placing in the Beef Carcass Contest were Katie Updike with fourth place and Justin Updike with eleventh place.
