evening we got unpacked and played get acquainted games in the lodge. On Monday after breakfast, we went on two field trips. The first was to Gilnoqkie Farm for swine judging. The second stop was at Excaliber Farm in Madison for sheep judging. After the field trips we went swimming at Chris Greene Park.
On Tuesday we went to Caroloton Farm and Fiber to look at their sheep operation. After lunch we went to Sheepman’s Supply Company to identify equipment. Following this we went to the VPI Extension Research Station where we judged feed and hay.
On Wednesday we went to Georgetown Farm to see their Piedmontese cattle and Buffalo herds. We went to the Greene County Fair after lunch. We went there for a Stockman’s judging contest.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights we had evening workshops. On Wednesday night the counselors put on a dance.
On Thursday we went to Lower Sherwood to see the llamas. Our final stop was Morver Farm, owned by billionaire Mr. Kluge. We judged Charolais heifers and learned how to clip and fit our cattle for a show.
Finally, when 3 p.m. came, the campers started departing, and newly made friends said goodbye until the following year at a show or Stockman’s Camp.
