Congratulations are also in order for students, teachers, and parents for the 1996 Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) in a variety of grades and subjects. The ITBS is a nationally-normed standardized test which is administered in grades 1-11. The results of the ITBS are reported in grade-level equivalence as well as national percentile scores.
In the area of reading comprehension, all but one grade level scored on or above grade level. In fact, three grade levels averaged half a year or more above grade level. In the area of mathematics ail but four grades scored at or above grade level. First grade mathematics scores averaged seven months, or over two-thirds of a year, above grade level. Second grade mathematics scores averaged six months above grade level. Three of the four grade levels needing improvement in mathematics were at the high school.
