At last Saturday’s event several old timers reminisced about attending the school. They are all happy to see the renovation going on.

Mr. Williams said he never got in trouble in school, but Lillian Fox certainly did. She remembers standing with her nose against the chalkboard in the primary room as discipline. She also remembers locking some of the boys in the out house.

Evelyn Seal remembers that they always had a hot lunch. Miss Mattie Robinson, a former teacher, heated the food on a large coal-fired stove in the room for the upper grades. A large piece of tin on the floor marks where the stove once stood. Mrs. Seal also remembers carrying water from the spring for the wash tub and that all the children washed their hands before eating.
