How They Will Vote
At the end of the two-hour session, these seven voters were asked to state how they would vote if they had to cast their ballot today. Mr. White and Mr. Ellis put themselves down as solid Clinton supporters. Mrs. Davis listed herself as undecided, though nearly all her comments in the session were supportive of the president. Mrs. Rogers said she is "not terribly impressed” with either man and still undecided. Mr. Marocchi is a solid Dole supporter, and both Mrs. Hickerson and Mr. ShafTner indicated they were strongly leaning toward the Republican.
The bottom line: three likely Clinton supporters;, three likely Dole voters, and one up for grabs. That is a result that would delight Mr. Dole — if only it were reflected in the national polls that now run strongly in President Clinton's favor.
