have been assigned by botanists. I have one of these tiny flowers before • me now; they are interspersed between the long-petioled leaves which have five shallow lobes. Most leaves are three quarters of an inch wide; there is pleasant variety in size. The lilac flower, also on a long stem, is less than a quarter of an inch wide. There are three largish petals at the top, and two smaller, more narrow ones at the bottom. Each ■deepens into purple at the base; a yellow eye is at the center. I just noted a purple tinge on the underside of the leaf. That is a new observation; I had not noticed it before.
Earlier, on noting the resemblance to a snapdragon, I could possibly place the plant in the Figwort Family, Sctophulariaceae. That is a mouthful. Out came my botanical
