I like Bill Clinton's presidential pardon of Jack Pakis, a former Hot Springs, Arkansas bookie.
Jack was convicted in an FBI antigambling sting in 1972. He was a long-time betting buddy of Virginia Kelly, the President's late mother, whose autobiography celebrated the Hot Springs gambling culture. Mr. Pakis's son Michael is also a close friend of President Clinton's brother, Roger.
Other people like Bill Clinton's promise to help raise money to pay the legal bills of people accused of crimes in the Whitewater scandal. Some folks like the fact that he refuses to rule out a presidential pardon for his former business associates, or his wife.
