State Regent's project for this past year, the seven and a half foot statue of George Mason, created by Wendy Ross of Bethesda, and located in front of the George Mason Center for the Arts at George Mason University which was dedicated this past May.

In the President General's message, read by Ms. Carolyn B. Butler, Mrs. Kemper reminded members that October is Birthday Month for the DAR as, in 1890, four founders had a vision to united the women of America and to honor the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence. A challenge for all is that the majority of Americans and children do not know the basic facts about American history and those who died to preserve it.
