He said that when he came to town in 1945 to set up a law practice following service in the navy, there were three stores, four garages or service stations, two barbershops and a mortuary. There was no doctor, dentist, drug store or supermarket.
He said for recreation people had a choice of the movie theater or a dance hall over a pool hall where the Rush River Company is now.
