Anna Chemyaty va of Kazakstan is living with Wanda and Sam. Snead and their daughters Nancie, an RCHS senior, and Becky, a freshman at VCU.
She said the only thing she misses from home is her cat. Anna said the thing that surprised her most about this country is the way people smile at each other so much. She also was surprised by the quiet compared to the small town in the north of Kazakstan where she lives and the mountains compared to the flatlands there.
She said she likes the people including her American family and the people she meets at school and church. She also likes shopping and. the stores in this country. She is enjoying living in the mountains. She is interested in getting baby sitting jobs to help her save for trips.
Johanna Linnoaho of Finland is living with Sharon and Peter Luke and their children Christina and Ben. She said she hasn't found big differences between this country and Finland, but there are no mountains near her home. But the main difference is in transportation. At home she is able to get everywhere she wants to go on bicycle or on foot. Now she is dependent on others for transportation because of the distances.
She said it is "easy to get to know people here," and she likes that. She
