Transition Fair Scheduled
Do you know someone with special needs? Could they benefit from information on financial planning, employment assistance, housing, college support, adult education, counseling and/or parent support? If so, they should plan to attend the Transition Fair at Fauquier High School on Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Encouraged to attend are students and graduates with disabilities, parents, school personnel, and anyone interested in the services available for individuals with disabilities. For more information, call Mrs. Tammy Snider at 987-8575 or Mrs. Connie Covington at 347-6100.
Open House at Winery
The Oasis Winery will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 featuring complimentary hor d’oegvres, wine tastings, winery tours, Virginia made specialty food and gift products and live music on stage. The free open house will be held rain or shine.
Raffle Tickets Available
A NASCAR raffle to benefit The Flint Volunteer Fire Department is currently underway. The Daytona 500 package includes five nights stay for two with Oceanfront hotel on Daytona Beach and $600 cash for travel. The donation is $10 per ticket and only 1,000 will be sold. Drawing will be December 21, 1996 for the February trip. Tickets may be purchased from any fire department member or by calling Connie HuffHams at 675-3389.
Parenting Preschoolers Group
If you’re a parent of an infant, a toddler, ona preschooler, you want to start right away to build healthy family relationships that will last throughout your child’s growing years. Early Childhood Step, a new parenting course, can help you foster confidence ahd cooperation in your child — from the start. Meeting with other parents in an atmosphere of mutual support, you’ll learn how to build self-esteem, discipline effectively, deal with common concerns like tantrums, toilet training, mealtime behavior, and much more.
The Step course will be held on the third Wednesday of each month from 7-8 p.m. at the Child Care and Learning Center beginning Wednesday, Nov. 20. Group facilitator will be Tammy Ehrhart. The course is free, with a $13 book available at CCLC, call 675-3237 for information.
