Some of the topics might include: How to avoid criminal victimization, home security information and inspections, knowledge of current frauds and scams, ideas for coping with telephone solicitations, elder abuse, telephone reassurance programs for older citizens (the Sheriff’s Office is already doing this), emergency preparedness plans by and for seniors, refrigerator cards with emergency medical information.
Mrs. McNear said that the Triad program has been very successful in many places. Some nearby Virginia counties that already have a Triad program are Albemarle, Fauquier, Prince William and Warren.
When Mrs. McNear heard about the Triad conference, she attended because she felt it would be a good project for her RSVP people and will impact the community more directly.
