The Library Board approved a bid of $23,453 from Rappawan for the paving of the library parking lot and road at last week’s meeting.
The Board received two bids for the project one from Rappawan for $25,355 and one from R.L. Rider for $33,126. An estimate for a bid by Richard Stanley Paving for $22,000 was made to County Administrator John McCarthy but Stanley failed to get the bid in by the required date.
Rappawan agreed to lower its initial bid after it was determined that it was not necessary to remove and then replace some of the culverts or to paint lines on after the paving is done.
Mr. McCarthy said he expects the work will begin within the next two months. When work does begin the library and the parking lot will be closed.
