William Woodroof

William Edwin Woodroof, 79, of Madison Heights, died Thursday, March 27, in Virginia Baptist Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Mildred Burford Woodroof.

Bom in Pleasant View, May 9,1917, he was the son of the late Ambrose Pleasants Woodroof and Emily Bright BrockenB rough Woodroof.

He was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections and was a ' member of Henry Lodge #57 A.F.&A.M. in Fairfax, the Democratic Committee and Elon Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Woodroof was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Woodroof and John Woodroof and five sisters, Mary Woodroof Bailey, Darthula “Dolly” Woodroof Burford, Margaret Woodroof Davis, Eloise Woodroof Burford, and Emily Jean Woodroof.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Anne Salmon and her husband, Christopher, of Flint Hill, one son, William Edwin “Buddy” Woodroof, Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Chester, one brother, Ambrose Rucker Woodroof of Manikan-Sabot, seven grandchildren, Stuart Salmon, Timothy Salmon, Deidra Hayes, Dawn Tillett, Wendy Hall, Spens Woodroof and Madison Woodroof and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 29 at Elon Presbyterian Church by the Rev. D. Barrett Tucker and the Rev. Eugene Campbell.'

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

C. Woodard

Catherine Woodard, 73, of Culpeper died on Thursday, March 27.

Bom on Sept. 12, 1923, in Culpeper, she was the daughter of the late Silas Henry and Josie Woodard Hitt.

Her husband was the late Harry C. Woodard.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Culpeper County.

She is survived by four children, Harry C. Woodard Jr., Charles R. Woodard, Mary E. Gough and Margaret A. Brown, all of Culpeper, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Also surviving are five sisters, Vergie Clatterbuck of Manassas, Isa Scott and Florence Fincham, both of Culpeper, Lorena Settle of Castleton
