flowers that carpet the wood’s floor at the state maintained G. Richard Thompson Wildlife Management Area. For about two weeks, from late April through early May, the display is glorious. Lee Trott and I went back over and over; the spectacle was never quite the same. When the flowers first open they are waxy white, gradually they change color and range from pale pink until, near the end, they are rosy red.
