success

Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and contributors who helped make our Fourth of July raffle such a tremendous success. Special thanks go to The Inn for their donation of dinner for two, to Lillian Aylor for her donation of a handmade quilt, and to Settle’s Garage for their donation of an oil change and inspection.

The large amount of letters
to the editor concerning the Fourth of July celebration in Little Washington have inspired me to point out what others have not mentioned.
The Fourth of July is a yearly ritual that both bonds and identifies us as Americans. This ritual helps to remind us of our past and inspire us for our future. In Rappahannock we are blessed with long lasting ordinances and caring people that are protecting and promoting a relatively pristine environment. It is important at a time as momentous as the Fourth of July to be aware of this environmental context and to honor it by crafting our celebration to pass on the correct message.
Mr. William Carrigan has so generously offered the Rappahannock community and its neighbors the use of his land and pond so that we may come together and perform our yearly ritual. We come, gazing blissfully at the
