Sheriff Settle said that although the law is severe he feels in the long run it will better address the real problem of domestic violence and help people better work out their relationships. And in that sense, he feels it is a move in the right direction and will have a more positive effect down the road.
He feels the result will be that each jurisdiction will have separate issues they’ll work through. Here the commonwealth’s attorney, attorneys who represent people here and law enforcement officials are already working on the situation.
He said we’re fortunate to have good working relationships here between the attorneys, judges and law enforcement personnel.
