A summer sun that melted ice cream cones before the first lick, shone on freshly cut flowers carefully arranged in white enamel water pitchers and caused an enormous consumption of liquids, also brought out party-goers, picnickers, music lovers and • Democrats from a 10-county radius.
A week ago Saturday, in a musical afternoon in support of Democratic candidates, Virginians from Arlington, Prince William, Warren, Fauquier, Culpeper and Mad-ison coun! ties came to Rappahannock County — to White Walnut Hill in Woodville.
They came to hear Lt. Governor Don Beyer in a dual role: as candidate for Gov1 emor and as back-up guitarist , for Rappahannock’s own and , nationally acclaimed leader of 2 Trapezoid, Paul Reisler.
They also came to hear another Rappahannockian of national prominence, singer and guitarist, John Jackson who sang both solo and in tandem with Mr. Reisler.
And they came to support Paul J. Asciolla, resident and i school board member from Fauquier, and Culpeper teacher, who is running as a fiscally conservative, politically moderate candidate for the House of Delegates in opposition to Republican incumbent, and former federal State Department official, Jay
