Melvin Carder

Melvin Amos Carder, 78, of Culpeper died Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Carder was born June 7, 1920 in Culpeper, a son of the late Bernard Amos Carder and Jessie Mae Carder.
He was a member of the Culpeper Baptist Church and an employee of the Geest Funeral Home for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth W. Carder of Culpeper; one daughter Cecil C. Jenkins and husband Thomas of Culpeper; one son, Melvin C. Carder of Fredericksburg; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Carder of Culpeper and four brothers, Wallace Carder and Russell Carder, both of Culpeper, Cecil Carder of Pennsylvania and Harold Carder of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Silas Carder.
Graveside services were conducted Feb. 5 at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
