Since 1980, Weaver has performed in an official capacity with the Washington Scottish Pipe Band and with Washington’s Saint Andrews Society — established 1 in 1760 as the Alexandria Saint Andrews Society, it is one of the old- j est Scottish orders in the U.S. / Alexandria, of course, is named / after a Scottish town. With these groups, Weaver j has performed at the Library of / Congress, the National M Cathedral,the Presidents Cup golf tournament, the Virginia Scottish Games, polo matches at Great Meadow (U.S. vs. Scottland) and at a variety of other community events.

Aside from the cultural aspect, Weaver enjoys the bagpipe’s flexibility.

“It is relatively easy to play — only nine notes — and its deep rich sound makes it both a happy and a sad instrument,” Weaver said.
