After two and one-half years Rappahannock County has received a bid of $54,000 for renovating the County Courthouse to provide handicapped access, and the Board of Supervisors voted at their regular monthly meeting Monday to accept the bid. Washington’s Mayor Dean Morehouse proclaims February as American History Month during a ceremony in front of the town monument on Jan. 27. Representing the Daughters of the American Revolution is the historian of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, Mrs. Nelson Phelps Lane. The NSDAR is sponsoring an American History essay contest in area schools, and will honor any outstanding history teachers nominated by their schools. Middle Street Gallery is sponsoring a- free airbrush demonstration by commercial artist Steve Wagner on Thursday, Feb. 9.
