school entrance.The mural will have an inspirational theme, including images relating to democracy, education, and our local rural environment. The mural’s border will be of images used in the flag project.
And for the first time, a school administrator has received a grant. High school principal Jack Raines will use his grant to provide school staff with copies of the book “The First Days of School”. The book is a reference source that ties in with other materials provided to teachers for in service training during the school year. Mr. Raines plans to continue providing copies of the book to new teachers in future years.
After the grants were presented, all previous winners were asked to stand and were applauded for the successful and enriching projects they have completed. Since 1997, thirty Headwaters Minigrants have been given for a total of over $12,000. New applications will be distributed this coming June for another round of grants to be given in the fall of 1999.
The Headwaters MiniGrants are a direct reflection of the enormous support within the Rappahannock community for our county schools and children.
