solar calculations to give as an award to at-risk students who can successfully demonstrate their mastery of the multiplication tables through oral recitation. Ms. Tracy currently works with these students after school to prepare them for 5th grade SOL testing.
Rappahannock County High School teacher Patti Waddell, who will use her grant to provide instruction culminating in CPR certification for her Biology II students. Most of these students will be continuing in healthrelated education and careers. Besides providing the students with a better understanding of human cardiovascular and respiratory systems, the instruction will increase the number of CPR-certified people in Rappahannock by about 25 percent.
Also in high school, teacher Jeanne Grimes will work with the Student Council Association, art students and technology students to create multi-colored flags that will hang outside each classroom door. Her grant will be used to purchase materials for the project. Each classroom will have its own individual flag, which should create a stunning visual effect in the high school hallways.
