They work all right, though I had my doubts at the Flint Hill gig. The first tune out of the box last Saturday gave evidence of the possibility, and by the time they hit the Stones’ “Bleed On Me” you knew they were real. Chris Frazier says that he views the group as “a rowdy party band,” and when he drove Billy through “Shotgun and a Chevy,” you could taste that genre.
The incomparable Orfila voice was first and maybe best heard in the Concrete Blonde tune, “Bloodletting,” and she showed more of that talent when working with Bobby Glasker (who made a cameo appearance and will play at The Blue Moon on June 5) on “Red Rooster” and “Black Cat.”
