Virginia State Police reported on four separate accidents in Rappahannock County last week.

• The first one occurred around 8:30 on the morning of May 24. Melody Connely, 20, of Culpeper was traveling on Route 729 just south of Route 640 in Castleton when her 1995 Honda ran off the road to the left. She hit a mailbox and tree, over-corrected and went off the road to the right, then ran through a fence and hit another tree.

There were minor injuries, and damage to her vehicle was estimated at $1000. Damage to the fence is approximately $500. Ms. Connely has been charged with reckless driving.

• Two separate accidents occurred on May 29. In the early morning hours, a 16 year-old male from Herndon ran off the road and lost control of his 1991 Ford. He came back across the road, hit an embankment and overturned. Authorities believe he fell asleep at the wheel. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $9000, and there were no injuries. The driver has been charged with reckless driving.

Shortly after 3 p.m. the same day, an Acura driven by 28 year-old Corey Peters of Centreville pulled in front of a 1997 Pontiac being driven by Robert Wells, 42, of Herndon on U.S. 211 at Route 729. The Pontiac struck the Acura, knocking it into a stop sign. There were no injuries. Damage to the Acura is not known, and the estimated damage to the Pontiac is $4000. Peters has been charged with failure to yield right-of-way.
