Money stolen
The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint last week from the owner of a store at 111 Hackley Mills Road that an employee stole approximately $200. The Sheriff’s Office has a possible suspect in the case. More problems with motorcycles
The Sheriff’s Office received two separate complaints last week regarding speeding motorcycles. One complaint was on Fodderstack Road, and the other was on Route 647. No one was caught speeding in these incidents.
Public intoxication
In the early evening of May 30, a woman called the Sheriff’s Office from Mayhugh’s Store in Amissville to complain that her husband was drunk and almost wrecked their car. In addition to the two adults, there was a small child in the vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies arrested 25 year-old Genesis Crawford II of Ruckersville and charged him with drunk in public.
Suspicious vehicle
Between 7 and 8 p.m. on May 24, a black Chevrolet full-size pickup drove past a residence on Dodson Road in Viewtown and then drove behind the house in the back yard a few minutes later. The truck has a Chevrolet bowtie logo on the back window. The license tag number is not known. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
Dogs search school
On the morning of June 1, Sheriff Larry Sherertz sent in a bomb dog to search for bombs, gunpowder, and firearms at the high school. Sherertz emphasized that this was simply a precautionary measure, and not in response to any complaints. The building and grounds were searched, and nothing suspicious was found.
