The Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table will meet Wednesday, April 12 to hear a discussion of the Battle of Front Royal, which took place May 23, 1862. The meeting, at 7:30 p.m., will be held at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on Main Street in Sperryville.
Melissa Delcours, a teacher at Rappahannock County High School who formerly served on the staff at the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Battlefield Park, will discuss the battle in which Confederate forces under General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson captured Front Royal and a majority of the Union forces occupying that town.
The meeting is open to the public and free of charge. Members of the Round Table need not make reservations, but those who are not dues-paid members should call 987-8444 to reserve a space.
