The Fodderstack
Run it, walk it, whatever...
its just a day of pure fun.
Each April for the last twenty-two years, a wholesome
community spirit and sense of cooperation
have brought Rappahannock citizens and visitors together for the Fodderstack 10-K Race from Flint Hill to Washington. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, April 15.
There will be mugs, trophies, tee shirts and cheers galore for the runners and winners. This year, for the first time there will be drawings for gifts donated by local businesses.
Pre-registration must be received by April 8 and the cost is $17. After that date and the morning of the race, the cost is $20.
Over the years, the day’s activities have grown. But throughout, they’ve brought enjoyment to lots of folks and they’ve given the county a chance to show off its hospitality. In short, it’s fun.
The run also constitutes an important fundraiser for the Rappahannock Recreation Authority and its good works. Countless Rappahannock folks give of their time and energy to make the race work and work well. The details involved in publicizing the event, registering and timing runners, providing water and first aid, controlling traffic, etc. may not always be apparent to the casual observer or bypasser. But, the people who perform those tasks deserve the community’s heartfelt thanks.

The awards ceremony should go off about noon on the courthouse steps and we encourage Rappahannock residents to come and be a part of this fun filled event!
