The Special Exception application heard aiH¥wfecommended at last month’s Planning Commission meeting was expected to be the “big draw" at the evening session, and an unprecedented assembly of Maazel and Hearthstone supporters and opposition would have created an overflow crowd. The application was “withdrawn” according to Mr. McCarthy, but Dietlinde Maazel said that they consider it “simply postponed until the next meeting of the Board of Supervisors since those who were to have given testimony re: traffic and related matters were not available.”

Baldwin case
postponed
for third time
The court date for Danny and Bonnie Sue Baldwin of Sperryville has been postponed yet again. The original date of the trial was Dec 2, 1999. Then the hearing was postponed to Dec. 7 and then until April 3, 2000. The new court date has been set for May 1, 2000 at 10 a.m. The trial will be held in Charlottesville.
The Baldwins were indicted on March 11, 1999 for bear poaching and the sale of illegally taken wildlife. Mrs. Baldwin has also been charged with the possession of firearms after having been convicted of a felony.
Bear poaching is considered a felony, carrying a maximum penalty of five years incarceration and fine of $250,000. The maximum penalty for the firearms charge is 10 years incar* ceration and a fine of $250,000.
