children in a very short time. Because of the level of excitement generated by this project, the PTO will continue to collect books until the end of •the year, so that we may provide a similar opportunity for children on Book Night/Meet Your Teacher Night in August. If you have not yet donated any books to this cause, please try to go through your children’s books and save any gently used ones for this effort. The collection box will be on the RCES Stage; please feel free to stop by any time and drop your books in. PTO President Jimmy Swindler will store them over the summer and return them to school in time for the children’s return to school in August. If you have books to donate over the summer or have questions, please call Parent Volunteer Deborah Flournoy at 675-3212 or PTO President Jimmy Swindler at 987-8597.
• This has been an incredible year for Mr. Ron Vickers and Mr. Scott Schlosser’s Technology students at RCHS. These two teachers accompanied 15 students to the State Conference “Technosphere 2000” in Hampton in April. Our teams did extremely well at the state level in numerous events. Students who placed in their events were: Bruce Brown, Brian Taylor, Erica Hilscher, Stuart Hensley, Jonathan Bankston, Nathaniel Griffin, Chris Payne, Jeremy Graves, John Ferdetta, Justin Clarambeau, Heather Hensley, Matt Wolfe, Ian Blubaugh and Marshall Gangel. Mr. Vickers is planning to take Ian Blubaugh, Jeremy Graves, John Ferdetta and Justin Clarambeau to the National TSA Conference in Atlanta on June 21-25.
