The reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons who vandalized Montpelier has now grown to $28,000.
Burglaries in Chester Gap
The Sheriff’s Office is also investigating a series of burglaries committed around June 1 in the Chester Gap area.
In one case, a woman returned to her home on Blue Ridge Lane to find that it had been entered. She called 9-1-1 and was advised to leave the house until law enforcement arrived.
Upon reaching the house, it was determined that entry had been forced, but that no one was still inside: Maj. Chris Williams is the investigating officer.
Later, a similar call was placed by the resident of a home on Waterfall Road. Entry had been gained by kicking in a rear door, and the house had been ransacked, but nothing appeared to have been stolen. The break-in is being investigated by Dep. Connie Compton.
A third property in the area may also have been burglarized, according to Sherertz, and the investigation is continuing.
