School was held last Thursday evening. The invocation was given by Beverly Atkins and Mollie Dennis gave the salutatory address. After graduation was narrated by Sharon Foster and Andy Nichols. Janice Grimes the honor graduate gave the valedictory speech. Mollie Dennis received the Homemakers Club scholarship of $100 from Mrs. Margaret Ralls who made the presentation on behalf of the clubs of Rappahannock. Mollie Dennis also received $500, half of the Rappahannock Angus Association award, given this year only. Kathy Dwyer is the summer work-study student in the Rappahannock County Extension Service Office at Washington in coordination with the Eastern Mennonite College, where she will attend school this fall. Her work will consist of 4-H Club activities. She will supervise 4-H members and projects during the summer. She is the daughter of Mrs. Ruby Dwyer of Sperryville and was graduated from RCHS last week. A play, “Servant of Two Masters” was presented by students of Wakefield Country Day School at Huntly on May 28. This 18th century Italian farce by Goldoni included Dayton Ward, William Warshauer, Raymond Riddell, Halimah Holliday, Tara Labovitz, Timothy Gibson, Michael Blake and Kimberly Muse.

The county’s Board of Supervisors appears ready to adopt a tax rate of 77 cents per one hundred dollars assessed value on real estate, an increase of two cents over the current rate of 75 cents.
