Our county has a wealth of history. In a recent survey con. ducted for the Amissville Area7* Community Association over 80 historic structures were identified in Jackson District alone. These landmarks are all around us. They are home to many county residents; while others unused may be at risk. Their preservation is important both as a link to the past and a bridge to our future.
How to go about the task of preserving these historic structures and the heritage of our Rappahannock comihunities will be the subject of a public forum to be held Friday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Amissville United Methodist Church on Lee Highway.
Invited speakers include Mr. David Edwards from the Virginia Dept of Historic Resources, Mr. George Edwards from the Preservation Alliance of Virginia, and Mr. Rob Nieweg of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
