Lions help

wrestling

program

Lions' President, Bob Metcalfe, announced Friday, Jan. 25 that members of the Lions Club had voted at their recent meeting to help the new wrestling program at the high school.

On Thursday, Jan. 11 Athletic Director, Jon Smythe and RCHS Wrestling Coach, Jim Wells were guests of the Lions Club. They had been invited to attend by Bob Darby and Ken Marlow.

Two weeks later the Club voted to provide $570 immediately in support of the requirement to buy mat storage covers to protect the new teams wrestling mats during the off-season and to purchase some wrestling shoe lace covers.

After he got the check the Athletic Director said, "The Lions Club is a great group of community minded citizens. We reap the benefits of what they do at our school in many ways besides athletics. It was a nice gesture on their part to help out the new program and was most appreciated. This is all in addition to their pledge to help with the construction of dugouts at the new athletic Helds behind the elementary school. I can't say enough about their support.”
