• As I write this article I am watching snow drift past nay window, and am reminded of how fortunate we are to live ip such a beautiful place. The school cancellation has turned this Monday morning into something for children to celehrate. There is something about snow that always lifts my spirits, perhaps because it evokes memories from my childhood of fun times with friends and family...sledding, hot chocolate, a warm fire, frozen fingers, wet socks, and lets of laughter!
• Last week ended with two days of staff training in the public schools. Kathy Kennedy, educator and nationally renown consultant, visited our system and worked intensely for two days with our staff. Opportunities like this are very important for our staff, and all of us (staff and students) benefit when we get training of this caliber. ' With limited facilities in Rappahannock, our staff must travel out of the county to attend higher level classes, conferences, and the like, often having to drive an hour or more at night. This can be a real hardship. Providing training "at home" meets a critical need in our community.
Providing training for over 100 staff members requires a tremendous amount of planning and legwork over a period of several months.
