Lindy Hart's statement
on Montpelier
Along with everyone else in the community, I was shocked and saddened when I read about what happened last May at Montpelier. Eight months later when I learned that my son was involved, I was stunned. There was a period of time when Xander was very vulnerable and making some horrendously bad decisions. He is ashamed and sorry. He knows that he can not undo the destruction at Montpelier or the anguish of the Fletcher family or the outrage of the community, but he is taking responsibility for his actions and is working hard to make restitution. The Fletcher family has been remarkably sympathetic under the circumstances, and I appreciate their concern for the families involved. Lindy Hart Hume
