• Repo Man: 1984, one hour and 33 minutes, rated R, starring Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez. Set somewhere in New Mexico, Otto (Estevez) has just been fired from his job as a grocery clerk and is at his nadir in life when Harry Dean Stanton’s character approaches him about a job repossessing automobiles.

Otto's parents have given all their money away and are addicted to TV religion. Because no one cooks, Otto is forced to open a can labeled "Food" and eat it for dinner. We then are witness to a series of hair-raising car chase scenes as Otto learns his craft. You get a real feel for the job because the movie was written by a real-life repo man.

Meanwhile, the federal government, some thugs, the notorious Rodriguez brothers (one of whom wears a hair net to keep his lock in place), and a UFO cult are looking for a 1964 Chevy Malibu. Said Malibu is being driven by a mad nuclear scientist.

The feds believe there is stolen nuclear material inside, the UFO cult says there are dead aliens in the trunk, and the thugs and Rodriguez brothers want the car because everyone else wants it. A $20,000 award is offered and the chase is on, because now the repo men want the Malibu, too. When pulled over for erratic driving, the mad scientist (whom we later learn has lobotomized himself) tells the policeman not to look in the trunk, and, big mistake, he does! The cop is totally vaporized save for his tall black boots.

The balance of the film deals with the various groups trying to get possession of the Malibu, and the ending is very quirky. Look for little, funny things in the film like the guys drinking out of cans labeled "Drink", and the white spacedsuited feds moving in and out of the background. There's a lot going on in this movie.
