Kudos to Maestro

Maazel

Lorin Maazel was recently selected to be the music director of the New York Philharmonic beginning with the 2002 season and continuing through 2006. He was selected after a two week stint with the orchestra in November. The Philharmonic had been searching for a music director for two years. He will be the first American to serve in this distinguished position since Leonard Bernstein (1958-1969). A world famous violinist and conductor, Mr. Maazel previously was the music director of the Cleveland Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony. We residents of Rappahannock County should take pride in calling the Maazels neighbors. Robert J. and Kathleen P. Lander Castleton
