owl caused me to lower my head to my knees for I did not want to become owl food to a huge owl that night. I was given a merciful period of grace that night, for like the legends of those lost in fairyland, time was different there.

By my calculation, I figured I had been there about six hours and it was probably midnight and suddenly I saw the eastern sky begin to get light. Hallelujah!

From where I was, I could see the whole sunrise and as soon as it got light enough to see I began retracing my steps. My feet were screaming with pain but as the blood began to flow back through them I was able to continue on.

Fortunately I found the path but was completely lost. After traveling for at least three hours I began to think my body was dead in the woods and my spirit was destined forever to travel these Hazel Mountain Trails.

The movie "The Sixth Sense" came upon me and I just knew even though I was alive I was really dead. I was quite on the edge of my sanity at this point but like the everready battery my survival instinct kept me going and going.
