Supervisor's questions and comments indicated that they were concerned with the opposition, and Chairman Pete Estes said that "my read in this is that it's premature— you haven't sold it to the community." He suggested that the effort should be restarted and that the support of the community should be gained. Mr. Miller, at that point, said that "I think that we should take the position of withdrawing the proposal," and he did so, eliminating the need for the Board to act on the matter. Elementary School
lagoon repairs
Schools Superintendent Dr. David Gangel reported to the Board on options available for rectifying the problems at the elementary school's wastewater treatment lagoon. He presented three alternatives developed by the engineering firm of Dewberry and Davis, which included: the installation of an underdrain system in the existing lagoon and liner repair at a cost of $273,000; the relocation of the lagoon at a cost of $1,485,000; and the installation of a package wastewater treatment plant at a cost of $624,000.
The firm's recommendation, to which Dr. Gangel concurred, was for the first option and the Board generally agreed, but there was some, concern expressed that the nature of the problem had not yet really been identified, and the cost of problem correction
